Mania Eghrarian is a self-taught illustrator with a background in graphic design. Her lifelong interest in books and stories deepened over time, leading her to devote herself fully to illustration, shaping her artistic voice through time and practice. She combines soft textures, gentle lines, and a harmonious palette to create emotionally inhabitable scenes. Her characters aren’t dramatic — they carry emotion in posture and light.

In 2025, Mania won the Silent Book Contest – Gianni De Conno Award for her debut wordless picture book The Bird (Il pettirosso, in Italian), published by Carthusia Edizioni. The book was showcased that year at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair as part of the Silent Book Contest exhibition and premiered at the Turin International Book Fair (Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino). It later, in 2026, received the Junior Silent Book Award, becoming the first title to be chosen by both the international jury and the children’s jury of the competition. In the same year, Il pettirosso was awarded the Premio La Magna Capitana in the 6–8 years category, chosen by thousands of young readers from schools across Italy, and was selected among the finalists of the 45th Premio Andersen in the category Miglior Libro Senza Parole (Best Wordless Book), one of the most respected distinctions in Italian children’s publishing.

Her illustrations don’t demand attention but instead invite a quiet emotional connection, evoking serenity, empathy, and the feeling of being understood without words. Her work lingers softly in the mind, long after the page is turned.
